PITTSTON, PA —May 17, 2023 — Giving back is built into Benco Dental's DNA, so naturally the company stands with the underserved and uninsured—and community health centers that provide care to them.
In April, the company's Chief Revenue Officer, Katy Cohen, led a delegation to Capitol Hill to lobby with other industry leaders on behalf of key legislation aimed at improving the nation’s oral health, including the Strengthening Medicaid Incentives for Licensees Enrolled in Dental Act, or SMILED Act. It would mandate comprehensive dental coverage for adults with Medicaid in all states and address administrative burdens for dentists who participate in Medicaid, respectively.
It's just one of the company's ongoing efforts to support CHCs and deliver on its philanthropic aims. As the nation's largest independent and family-owned distributor of dental supplies and technology, Benco commits at least 5% of profits annually to charity through the Benco Family Foundation. In addition, the company has donated well over one million toothbrushes to children in need who might otherwise go without through the Buy One, Give One initiative tied to sales of Benco's PRO-SYS toothbrushes.
Benco Dental is the also the only distributor of its kind that has a dedicated team for—and resources exclusively focused on—health centers. Since 2016, Benco has partnered with Community Health Ventures, Inc. (CHV), the business development affiliate of the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) as their Preferred Dental Distributor, offering a discounted pricing platform which frees significant savings annually which can be reinvested back into health centers and the communities they serve.
